First time mastodon user here. Still confused but excited to join.
I'm also looking into writing a game. Excited for process of learning and developing, attached image unrelated.

I am still on my programming/game making journey at ~2 1/2 months in. I don't have anything to share. Okay I don't have anything /interesting/ to share. But I'm learning a lot.

Unlike my progress two years ago, I'm still working on game making. By which I mean I can move a sprite in *four* different directions. And wrote a dev log entry about it.
I also came up with a hash tag. It took about as much effort as the four direction thing. And started calling the game Newtius. That's it.

I'm trying to come up with a title for a game I haven't written yet. I was trying to find the right alliteration and also subtly communicate what it's an open source homage to. Actually if anybody can get it that'd tell me...something. These are either too obscure or too on the nose. Probably on the nose.
Here are the ideas

* gratisnes
* rivalnewt/openrivalnewt
* neminewt
* newtius

I don't know I should probably make progress creating it and worry about it later.

Hello again. Only two years later. Right now I guess I'm stuck on choosing a game making platform. I mean I'm not ready for Unity. I think the most advanced I could go is GameMaker studio. Actually I wrote a series of blogposts exploring a number of different solutions (a one per day thing with gamemaker, godot, a few others). I'm leaning towards gamemaker. Unless someone is willing to dissuade me. Guess I'm looking for a upgrade-to-language solution like gamemaker. Any suggestions?

I'm about 1/3 the way through a programming with JS course on udemy. So far I've made a primitive "Breakout" type game. Here's my repo if anybody wants to see it:
