Playing around mocking up levels with Tilesetter

For my games I usually end up running my own tilemap tool, but that usually only comes together towards the end of the project. It's nice to see mock up how your levels are going to look before you commit.

I've used Tiled before, but its auto tile setup is very time consuming, so I don't find it useful for mocking up scenes.

Your feminist zine to SPREAD Zinefest!

F(eminist)H(ack)M(eetings) invites you to send zines to the presentation library, “Zinedisplayer”, of the SPREAD Zinefestival until the 11th of September. In this year's SPREAD Zinefest, FHM will organise a workshop on zine making and invite zines from different networks to be displayed in the festival and join a feminist library that will be an inspiration reference for the workshop. We invite you to contribute with your zine(s) themed around feminism in relation to L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ issues, hacking, biohacking, technology, art, food, caring, networks, tools, infrastructures etc. The delivery costs and the price of the zine will be covered.

If you wish to participate send us an email to

oh hey it's a totally out of nowhere two week deadline extension:

go turn fictional game cartridges into real games

It may bring #accessibility issues into clearer focus if we call "inaccessible" what it really is: Disabling.

Instead of working on my game today I worked on starting a guide:

Mostly 'cause a few games in the jam have music, and I wanted to see how they were doing it :)

(I plan on having music in one scene, which is a bit of a different process...)

Probably some errors in there, hopefully people will add to it ... ...

Disk magazine "FutureDisk" to return to the MSX scene (1500+ chars)

FutureDisk to return to the MSX scene

In the land of #diskMagazines for the #MSX, #FutureDisk was one of the more well-known and longer lived ones, with almost 50 editions of its disk magazine. Now, more than 20 years later, a bunch of the former crew along with some fresh blood, are planning to return in 2022 with a new issue of FutureDisk! Its first new release is expected to be released at MSX Fair Nijmegen 2022 before a world-wide release online.

What is a disk magazine?

A #diskMagazine, for those unaware, was/is something akin to a #zine; a collection of creative content, presented on disk media.
For the MSX scene this often included reviews of software such as games, other disk magazines and (digital) music collections, as well as guides, game hints, music covers in #chiptune form, scene news, demos, #pixelArt, etc. All presented in a digital interface with nice graphics, animations, music and scrollers. ;)
See for instance this overview of FutureDisk 01 for an example of what you could expect on one.

Who will be involved?

MSX sceners such as #KoenDols, #Jorito (who you might also know from his involvement in OCRemix projects), #ParallaxMSX Pat, #Hegega, and #Meits.

Where to follow updates?

The comments section of the FD2022 announcement on and are probably a good place to start.

A few days ago, the people at ScummVM announced support for early Macromedia Director titles:

@candle Also I think a confirmation on the 'reset' button would be nice. I just lost a bit of work (not too much, I'd been exporting backups) thinking it would restart the playtest.

@candle Just noticed a little quirk with bipsi: If I delete all the tiles from the draw tiles tab, they're still kinda there in the room.

So If I don't create any new tiles and just place the first/only one it'll sometimes look pale because the old tiles are still on the map. The layout's still stored.

Also in this screenshot I created a second tile, drew with it a bit, then completely deleted it so there's only one tile in the draw tiles tab, and it's still in my room.

I've released "Gruescript" to open beta:

It's an online tool/scripting language for creating point-n-click text adventures. It's designed to create games that feel as close as possible to classic puzzly parser games, but replacing the type-in prompt with a contextual button-driven interface, making the games friendly to modern devices and players.

DOMINO CLUB is a collective of digital artists and friends pseudonymously creating cutting edge gaming content (one of which may or may not be my own contribution)
