got a website for the micro fiction game jam, and i personally think its a design award winner!

Introduced my college students yesterday to the joys of Kid Pix!

We watched the short Meeting Mr. Kid Pix documentary

and then played the 1991 version of Kid Pix up on the Internet Archive.

Yay, it's @SpindleyQ !

I'll spare you the usual spiel, as you know how Fedi works, but welcome :knp_weedc:

Not Going Back To Normal is a group project by disabled Scottish artists and writers. After months of work it's finally online (a book will follow later this year). I'm really thrilled to have work in it and looking forward to reading *everything* in it.

you should be able to make reports to a mod team and expect it to be taken with reasonable concern. no one is above critical examination of their biases and internalized bigotry that might seep out from time to time. literally no one.

Wrote about MOON finally and how it really made me think about how, ostensibly, we see videogames as an art form but the way that we talk about them doesn't show confidence in that notion. Moon is very confident.

Putting out a 1.0 release of ArcadiaGodot which gets Clojure into the Godot game engine. Boosts good!

I spent half the morning trying to remember what this cool little bitmap compression tool I found once was called. you store bitmap pixel art as an efficient stack based language optimised for generating glitch art through corruption. The art is converted to plain text ascii, and was made by someone very talented. I didn't expect to make pixel art things. @Quasimondo
it's entropx
this toot loaded with keywords so I can find this again.

let-off-studios from Glorious Trainwrecks is hosting a beginners workshop for making tabletop games. Online, on the 10th of October.

> Learn how to create your own tabletop games, featuring cards, dice, and other assorted bits. Stephen will show you how you can create your own game in as little as 15 minutes!

Things I'd like to see more in secondary worlds:

- Hunter-gatherer societies that acknowledge their sophistication and complexity and don't relegate them to noble savages
- Matrilineal societies that are not some caricature of "matriarchy"
- Nuanced ideas of gender and sex, dammit
- Religion and spirituality that are actually real and important guiding principles in characters' and communities' lives and not just exotic color or a source of supernatural power
- "Soft" skills like negotiation, relationship management, homemaking, spirituality, gardening, caregiving etc. being given actual importance. So sick of women characters' worth being decided solely by how good they are at violence, and physically disabled people being left out altogether unless they have Disability Superpowers.

me, getting ready to design the absolute crap out of some spheroids:

Big GM.S welcome to @robinjohnson @raulboo @Vivi_Silversword and @trumgottist :blobmelt:

Please ask if you have any trouble figuring the place out, finding people to follow, or anything else.

A good way to get started it to make an introductory post with some interests tagged, and attach the tags 'introduction' and 'introductions' too.

(edited to add an extra person and fix me typos. I hope it doesn't re-ping people?)

This could be handy, a website that collects successful applications for grants and things:

fediBlock recommendation,

fediBlock recommendation,

The instance sure likes hosting right-wing Twitter mirrors

Seemingly created by their user holzmichel. The admin even helped them troubleshoot one of them.

If you're considering joining #inktober, please read up on the controversy regarding plagiarization of black artist Alphonso Dunn by the "inventor" and trademark owner (oh yes) Jake Parker. Consider joining #pinktober instead:

The CHIP-8 is not for me, but the creator of this IDE makes a good point: it's mind-blowing to think that even fantasy consoles date all the way back to 1977! That's the year I was born. That's how old everything is.

Hi! Game Making Social is a part of the Fediverse dedicated to being a well-moderated, cosy, friendly place to talk and share stuff about amateur videogame making, and everything surrounding that.

It's kinda an offshoot of Game Making Tools, which is a wiki(+) for a similar audience.

Game makers, game writers, game curators, etc. etc. most welcome!

I also try to maintain a list of not-jerk game-making communities on the wiki, which you might find interesting.

Please read the rules before signing-up :)

PS: We have Animal Crossing, LSD, and Klik & Play emoji :3
