Doing something well usually takes time
Like shitton of tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime
And it's so rare that we have it
And "doing one thing and doing it well" is not always the right thing to do. Sometimes doing something poorly helps a lot of people.

I wrote a Blender addon for my Unity workflow.
It fixes object rotations so that in Unity all the transforms are nice and zero all the way down the hierarchy of nested meshes.

twitter games discourse today is that game files are too big now but like? if you’ve already committed the ultimate sin of making a video game, you may as well make it too big for a computer too

#Medium now fully completed their paywalling efforts. The public page's now completely inaccessible without logging in.

Unsuspecting visitors to Medium's #articles now can't #read them unless they lock themselves into the platform.

The ability to search for new #content written by independent creators? Gone! The goal's to usurp content created by others free of charge to make you pay the centralized platform to access it.

#Plume exists to combat this, using the power of the #fediverse.

On FOSDEM 2020 there will be a whole room for FOSS game development!
I hope they will have some interesting talks there.

If you are a Mastodon user that had your language set as Portuguese (Portugal) or an admin with users from Portugal, you should read this: github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/

instance meta, masto v3

I feel like maybe in addition to difficulty levels, videogames should have a "beginner" mode that communicates, in some form, the really basic stuff that gamers know but newcomers don't youtube.com/watch?v=ax7f3JZJHS

And it's finished!

Everyone hosted on Masto.host is now running v3.0.0 😅

There is still an issue that is breaking the new audio player waveform but I will be working on fixing that tomorrow. The audio player works but it just doesn't display the new pretty audio wave.

Any other issues, please let me know.

Thanks 🐘

Openclipart.org has finally been [properly] replaced with freesvg.org

It's a site, based on Laravel, providing CC0 and public domain SVG files, including the 55,000+ we scraped from openclipart.org

#openclipart #svg #inkscape

I finally did it!
I added the last missing quest to yesterday!
Now I will testplay it a bit myself. If I find no critical bugs I will try to build a beta release next weekend and look for some testers. It would be nice if I could find some here in the fediverse.
Especially people who didn't know the game and could offer me a new perspective.

I think I talked about this on Masto already, but here I did a Twitter thread about why everything is 30 or 60fps: twitter.com/impiaaa/status/117

gamemaking.social

Hi! Game Making Social is a part of the Fediverse dedicated to being a well-moderated, cosy, friendly place to talk and share stuff about amateur videogame making, and everything surrounding that.

It's kinda an offshoot of Game Making Tools, which is a wiki(+) for a similar audience.

Game makers, game writers, game curators, etc. etc. most welcome!

I also try to maintain a list of not-jerk game-making communities on the wiki, which you might find interesting.

Please read the rules before signing-up :)

PS: We have Animal Crossing, LSD, and Klik & Play emoji :3
