QUEER.ARCHIVE.WORK is an urgent act of publishing that’s radical, messy, and future-looking. It’s a signal sent out into muddy waters, the start of a speculative practice emerging from (and moving towards) the undercommons—a collective place for subversive artists and writers who reject normative narratives. THIS PUBLICATION IS A LOOSE ASSEMBLING OF QUEER METHODOLOGIES, WITH A PARTICULAR VIEW TOWARDS NETWORK CULTURE, FAILURE, AND REFUTATION. https://queer.archive.work/1/index.html
'gamers', politics in videogames
What doesn't count as 'politics' in videogames according to 'gamers':
•Wars, in many forms
•Relations between governing bodies
•Exploitation of underclasses
•Fighting for military forces
•Racism involving fictional races
•Casually using queermisic tropes and/or jokes
•Gay people existing
•Women not being subservient or docile or barely dressed
•Literally anything about non-fictional races
Did a little update to the https://gamemaking.tools/ index page—added some banners/buttons, and made a page to talk about hosting.
Maybe I should set up a shared gitea hmmm
My twitter thread 2018 blogging roundup thread... now without the twitter https://emreed.net/2018inVGBlogs.html
Flashpoint is a web game preservation project that, other than Flash, can also play Shockwave, HTML5, Unity Web Player, Java Applets, Silverlight, 3DVIA Player, 3D Groove GX and PopCap Plugin games.
Apparently it has over 10,000 games backed up so far. New games are still being added.
The website I help run is doing a Midwinter Creative Competition with actual games and stuff as prizes and we have practically no entries, so please do enter (deadline is the 31st):
Me, Rhianna Pratchett and Jill Murray talked about our extensive experience with narrative design for games (birdsite warning): https://twitter.com/scriptlockcast/status/1077240229378093056?s=20
Game Making Tools is a few things, but mostly a wiki for amateur game/vidcon makerers.
1/2 admin accounts, handles most of the adminy announcement stuff :)
Hi! Game Making Social is a part of the Fediverse dedicated to being a cosy, friendly place to talk and share stuff about amateur videogame making, and everything surrounding that.
It's kinda an offshoot of Game Making Tools, which is a wiki(+) for a similar audience.
Game makers, game writers, game curators, etc. etc. most welcome!
I also try to maintain a list of not-jerk game-making communities on the wiki, which you might find interesting.
Please read the rules before signing-up :)
PS: We have Animal Crossing, LSD, and Klik & Play emoji :3
