This is a real interesting take on motion controls that was mostly a PS2 thing, but was also released for XBox and PCs:

The gloves are tethered to a thing on the floor. The strings can gauge how far they've been pulled, and the attachment point is like an analogue stick, so it knows what directions it's pointing. Clever!


This same company went to do some less interesting—and not as good as the Wii—standard motion controllers that were bundled with some games on the PS2, like this ball:
