some work on radial elements for treelike forms. this landed in place which also can lean into the shell-like, crinoid end of the spectrum as well, depending on context.

warning about those last boosts though: lots of moving graphics.

@alienmelon I love the combination of the interface with the plain HTML/directories in each of the projects! It feels like going to a museum and then going into the archive behind the scenes

small update!
i just finished my portfolio site of abandoned and unfinished (and also finished) work.
it's very unusual, and interesting.
you play as a little ghost exploring my homepage, and talking to skeletons:

check it out! yay!
i'm really happy about this one. :)

I played this nice 3-D colouring-in game at a bar on Satdee. I don't think it's out (yet?), but the creator's itch is here:

mjm.itch.io/

It's all outlines on a white screen, but you can walk round in the scene and draw whatever colours you want, wherever. And 'cause it's up in public it turns into a collaborative drawing (that gets reset every day I guess).

instance meta, federation, last boost

But my variety of kinesthetic interactions with the world -- and this is true for most people, I think -- is largely collapsing into the feeling of tapping and swiping my finger on smooth glass. As a kinesthetic experience, smooth glass *fucking sucks*.

it's true. you can't just make a game about any subject and guarantee it'll be good. for example, if you made a game about inflating your own ego, it might get boring after the fifth puzzle

Note to people, if you previously had pridelands.io blocked that instance has been shut-down and the user has moved to mastodon.xyz/@simba

I wrote a new post about showcasing at Playdate, the LA Zine Fest, weird games, and what it means for an event like "Playdate" to lose it's name...
nathalielawhead.com/candybox/p
This is a lot of cultural criticism, and what the Playdate (game toy) means to someone like me.

Yesterday, I released a little arcade top scroller called Honeycomb CRUNCH as both a fun game to play, and an example project to pick apart and learn from. One of the last things I added was this cool splashscreen :D #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsaturday cheeseness.itch.io/honeycomb-c

Whoops, didn't mean to spam the local timeline with ten things at once, but...

Hi, I made a new bot! This one's for noyb's Bottomless Pits in Games blog :)

@bottomlesspitsingames

bottomlesspitsingames.tumblr.c

I have taught my son that opening up the inspector on any webpage and adding "contenteditable" to the body tag allows him to freely type the word "butts" anywhere on that webpage and I have a strong suspicion that this knowledge will shortly spread to his entire school

if you could control a few arms at once, and you had buttons which controlled a character, you could have situations where you control a second-order character.

Hi! Game Making Social is a part of the Fediverse dedicated to being a cosy, friendly place to talk and share stuff about amateur videogame making, and everything surrounding that.

It's kinda an offshoot of Game Making Tools, which is a wiki(+) for a similar audience.

Game makers, game writers, game curators, etc. etc. most welcome!

I also try to maintain a list of not-jerk game-making communities on the wiki, which you might find interesting.

Please read the rules before signing-up :)

PS: We have Animal Crossing, LSD, and Klik & Play emoji :3
